Patient Access has an exciting opportunity for 1 x 37.5 hour Clinical Documentation Administrator Apprentice to join the team on a 17 month contract. Ìý
The successful applicant will ideally have previously worked in a medical or healthcare setting with knowledge of medical terminology. Experience of using Microsoft packages is essential. ÌýTraining will be given on eCare and the patient administration systems used, if needed.ÌýÌý
The Apprenticeship programme will be delivered by our external NHS-approved training provider. You will take part in interactive workshops and be assigned a tutor to support you throughout the programme, as well as receiving support from the MKUH Apprenticeship Team.

• Ìý ÌýYou will not be in full time education at the point of starting this role, Ìý
• Ìý ÌýYou have not previously undertaken a similar or higher qualification (E.g A-level in Business studies or a degree or Masters in Business Administration) Ìý

Apprenticeship roles at MKUH are Fixed Term for the duration of the training. For this role, the Term is 17 months. For the first 12 months of the apprenticeship, you will be paid the national apprentice wage. From month 13 to the end of contract, you will receive the national pay vs your age.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Ìý ÌýUndertaking of administration of clinical correspondence inclusive of checking content for accuracy, applying the correct letter templates and ensuring that relevant associated information is included.
• Ìý ÌýProvision of typing for multi-disciplinary meetings, involving preparation of clinical letter templates and completion of live typing to ensure outcomes are communicated to the patient and GP
• Ìý ÌýLiaising with clinicians and other relevant staff to ensure relevant actions from clinical correspondence are undertaken (i.e., arrangement of diagnostic tests)
• Ìý ÌýSupporting clinicians and other staff with complex queries and issues in relation to the transcription and dictation processes.
• Ìý ÌýEnsuring patient letters are processed in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with locally agreed policies and standards.
• Ìý ÌýResponding to queries from patients, GP’s, Clinicians, and other stakeholders which may contain complex and sensitive issues, ensuring that general data protection rules are adhered to, and excellent customer service provided.
• Ìý ÌýSupporting with the resolution of issues identified with transcriptions and escalating as required.
• Ìý ÌýWorking independently to monitor and action worklists to ensure that all letters are reviewed and processed within agreed timescales.
• Ìý ÌýAssisting with the implementation of process changes and updates.
• Ìý ÌýManaging own workload and prioritising as necessary.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Achieved GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- •Good standard of spoken English
- Strong IT Skills in relation to Microsoft packages including Word and Microsoft Teams
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Waiting List procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of NHS Administration Systems and procedures acquired through experience or training to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent.
- Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace.

- Ability to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines

- Working in a busy environment dealing with peaks of high workload and problem solving.
- Experience of transcribing dictation or copy typing.
- Clerical experience in a healthcare environment.
