Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen to join our team for a period of at least 12 months, covering maternity leave. We are a friendly, forward-thinking team of audiologists with a focus on quality and continued service improvement and are looking for someone with similar values. The role will focus on assisting in paediatric audiology clinics and providing hearing assessments for adult patients and could be a good fit for someone who wants to develop their paediatric audiology skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsibilities: In this post you’ll provide hearing assessment and management for children working alongside a clinical scientist or specialist audiologist. You will also be providing support for our ENT clinics. You’ll provide relevant reports based on your findings to medical and other professionals, make onward referrals as appropriate and liaise with other teams to ensure the best care for our patients. Ìý
You may also have the opportunity to participate in some research and service development.

Experience and skills: You will be able to perform audiometry to a high standard on adults and school age children. You will have some experience of paediatric audiology but further training can be provided for the right candidate. Our clinics take place across a number of different sites so you will need to be able to travel independently to locations in Southampton and the surrounding area.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • BSc Audiology or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant clinical training in diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures for hearing services
  • Holder of UK State Registration in Audiology (RCCP) OR able to demonstrate eligibility and in process of applying
  • Experience of independently performing audiometry and tympanometry for an ENT clinic
  • Experience in programming hearing aids and verification with real ear measurements
  • Experience working in paediatric audiology clinics
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in an acute hospital
  • Experience assisting in vestibular clinics
  • Participation in service improvement, development activities and audit/surveys
  • Experience of Phonak and Oticon hearing aids
  • Familiarity with Auditbase
