- Are you aware of the different types of clinical imaging such as computed tomography (CT), digital radiography (DR), Interventional radiography (IR), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), DEXA and ultrasound.Ìý
You job will have a focus in four main areas:
- Patient care and transportationÌý
- Housekeeping tasks such as stock handling, equipment cleaning etc.Ìý
- Administration and clerical duties such as appointment scheduling, checking patient attendanceÌý
- Self-development such as intravenous cannulation, induction and care certification with a desire to progress

Main duties of the job
- To assist Radiologists, Radiographers, Sonographers, Assistant Practitioners and Clerical staff undertake a wide variety of tasks throughout the department, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to ensure service efficiency, whilst maintaining high standards of patient-centred care.Ìý
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of the range of examinations undertaken within the Imaging Department so that appropriate support and care can be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Demonstrate awareness and respond to the wellbeing of a wide range of patients.
- To have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a variety of CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and General x-ray examinations. This should include anatomy and medical terminology relevant to a range of different clinical areas.
- Use acquired clinical knowledge to answer questions about Radiology examinations when making appointments and communicating with service users.
- Be fully conversant withÌýÌýall aspects of Radiology Information System and use the system for administrative tasks such as attending patients, post-processing examinations, booking appointments and assisting with queries.Ìý
- Provide administrative support, answer the phone and deal with queries as appropriate.
- Demonstrate and apply a working knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99), Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER), MRI safety, moving and handling, health and safety, infection control and information governance policies, as applied in each clinical area.
- Be prepared for potentially distressing or aggressive situations and behave appropriately.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Broad education to include Grade C GCSE (Equivalent in English and Mathematics)
- NVQ in healthcare
Desirable criteria
- GCSE (or equivalent) in science subject
- Proven record of continued learning
- Basic knowledge of a Radiology Department
- Basic knowledge of NHS structure
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in patient or client facing care
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in the NHS or within an imaging department or within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting
- Previous work as an HCA or similar
