We are thrilled to invite applications for the Band 7 Ward Manager (secondment) role at 6 South, our dedicated 13-bed inpatient unit specializing in chemotherapy, scheduled electives, and emergency oncology care. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled and established team within a renowned centre for cancer care.

6 South provides comprehensive care for patients undergoing treatment for solid tumours, including a focus on a national centre for Gestational Trophoblastic Disease and a Teenage and Young Adult Service. Our chemotherapy units and inpatient wards treat a diverse range of conditions, and we are deeply committed to entering patients into clinical trials, supported by a large and dynamic research centre onsite.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • As a key member of a multi professional team, ensure appropriate referral and discussion with other members of the team to optimise patient care.
  • Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with Trust’s evidence based procedural documents.
  • ÌýTo have local open and transparent communication channels that support the ward team to do the right thing for people we care for, to be bold when they have good ideas and to speak up when things go wrong.
  • Act as a clinical expert within sphere of work.
  • Have continuous responsibility for the ward area, providing visible professional leadership and line management for a team of nursing and support staff.
  • ÌýEnsure staffing is in line with Trust policy.
  • Manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Be responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the clinical environment.
  • Champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
  • The post holder will have supernumerary status
