Acute and General Paediatrics:


This 12-month job will be based in our Children’s Emergency Department (CED). We run a single front door CED that sees 30-35000 children a year including GP and specialty referrals. The job would involve management of acutely ill infants, children and young people and would include training to manage injuries and trauma. The job would also involve working on our 8 bedded Short Stay Unit (SSU). 90-95% of patients are managed between CED and SSU. Shifts would include day, mid, twilight and night shifts. There would be protected Education Development Time (EDT) in which a successful candidate could attend general paediatric clinics, inpatient ward rounds with the consultant of the week in general paediatrics and any other activity that would be useful to fulfil the Generic Specialty Curriculum for General Paediatrics.

Neonatal Medicine:
This 12-month job will be based in our Tertiary Neonatal Service caring for sick and premature babies. IT would contribute to the full shift middle grade rota and would include work across NICU, SCBU, postnatal ward, clinic and could include some exposure to neonatal transport. We are a surgical and cardiac unit. ÌýÌý


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Ìý

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists). ÌýÌý

Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process. Ìý

Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular.Ìý
