We are inviting applications from paediatric StRs (ST4+) with some research experience and skills in paediatric echocardiography to join a committed team within the Paediatric Research Department.Ìý
The post is to commence as soon as possible for a period of three years.Ìý
This is a full-time post and the successful post-holder will be required to have experience of working in the NHS.Ìý

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
The research post will require to participate in the day to day running of a high profile paediatric study (year 1) and clinical trial (years 2-3) assessing long term harms of repeated Covid infections in children and the day to day running of a treatment trial for children suffering with Long Covid. Depending on the level of experience and skills, there will also be opportunity to undertake clinical work within the paediatric cardiology department. The clinical research fellow will work in association with the multidisciplinary Clinical Research Facility (CRF) team to contribute to the delivery of clinical research study. They will work closely with the Chief and Principal investigators to undertake the various activities involved in recruitment, consent, investigations, pharmacovigilance and follow-up of patients within the breadth and range of the clinical trial. There will be opportunity to develop expertise in all aspects of delivering clinical research and working to protocol, an understanding of research governance.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• To support recruitment into portfolio of research project, and to support the smooth running of the research study. This will include patient enrolment and recruitment, assessment of effects of repeat COVID infections in children (neurological, cardiovascular and immune system) in line with the study protocol, data entry work, administrative work and liaising with patients/parents, research leads and multidisciplinary teams.
• To undertake clinical and laboratory study work under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI) and chief investigator (CI).
• Evaluate research study participants’ eligibility for the studies through co-ordination and interpretation of information obtained from the clinical service.
• Record patient data, in accordance with the requirements of the Research Ethics Committee.
• To ensure that all research is undertaken according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), as well as SOP and trial specific protocol.
• Opportunity to discuss other research projects within the department.
• Participation in occasional paediatric cardiology clinical work of interest (and on call) may be arranged by negotiation after appointment.
• The post-holder must have an awareness and understanding of clinical governance issues and will be expected to participate in Clinical Governance activities related to their clinical work.Ìý

In line with the Trust’s core value of placing patients at the heart of everything we do, we are developing our service provision to be responsive to the needs of our patients. To meet those needs some staff groups will be increasingly asked to work a more flexible work pattern so that they can offer services in the evening or weekend.Ìý As a result any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern or working in the future if required, including evening and weekend work.
