As part of our Single Point of Access (SPA) and NHS 111 team, you'll play a vital role working over the phone. You'll be responsible for conducting clinical risk and mental state assessments, providing short-term psychological interventions, and signposting patients to the most appropriate care under the direction of a senior practitioner. You'll be an expert in emotional validation and de-escalating crises, using a range of psychological interventions to empower patients and their families. With a variety of shift patterns available, you'll provide 24/7 support to those in need. We're looking for confident, recovery focused individuals with excellent communication skills. Main duties of the job

As a SPA & NHS 111 Telecoach, you’ll be at the heart of mental health crisis triage, providing rapid, expert support over the phone. You will:

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Undertake clinical risk assessments and make informed decisions about next steps for patient care with a senior practitioner.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Deliver short-term psychological interventions using evidence-based techniques to manage distress.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý De-escalate crises and empower patients, carers, and families with distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Liaise with key agencies such as social care, emergency services and community mental health teams to ensure seamless patient care.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Supervise and support junior staff, apprentices and trainees, fostering a learning environment.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Champion service user safety and dignity, driving continuous improvement in crisis response services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • ualified to degree level in a relevant subject (nursing, OT, Social Worker, Psychologist with BPS approved post graduate certificate, counselling, psychological therapy) or equivalent experience.
  • or Psychological Therapy qualification (or currently working towards). PWP training course qualification
  • or Significant demonstrable equivalent experience in specific area or practice.
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level training in relevant Psychological or Mental Health area.
  • Post-graduate training in relevant mental-health / psychological / recovery discipline.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of work with people with moderate to severe mental health problems.
  • Experience in psychological interventions – CBT or interpersonal therapy /
  • Experience of NHS procedures and structures
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in applying specialist psychological therapies.
  • Experience delivering psychological therapies via telephone.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Competency in delivering clinical skills i.e. assessment, therapeutic interventions and management of mental health
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage distressing and challenging situations.
  • High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
  • Ability to feedback and discuss cases within the multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of assessing people who present in an acute mental health crisis
  • Knowledge of RiO patient record system.
