Job overview

The Surgical Assessment Unit at听 Ysbyty Glan Clwyd requires听 Band 2 Health Care Support Workers.听 The successful applicant will join a supportive and dedicated team. The successful applicant should have some experience in care,听 preferably in the hospital environment. They should have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team as well as having initiative and organisational skills. Training, mentorship and support will be provided to the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for carrying out delegated nursing tasks to a varied group of patients some of which may have physical and/or mental disabilities or be suffering from illness i.e bathing, toileting, feeding, last offices. To assist with intentional rounding and providing pressure care to patients, and maintain听documentation. Inform nursing staff of any issues or changes in patients condition. To recognise and respond to any changes in patient鈥檚 behaviour/condition and report to Registered Nurse at all times. To recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

  • To maintain a tidy and clean Department听
  • To escort alone low dependency patients to other wards听
  • Maintain effective communication with patients/carers听
  • Maintain effective communication with colleague听听
  • Assist with obtaining urine/faeces samples as required by trained nurse.
  • To work with other health professionals to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and care.
  • Assist patients with their dietary requirements and monitor daily food order as instructed by registered nurse.
  • Assist in maintaining level of stock, re-stocking, and other general听
    housekeeping duties.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
