Job overview
We are excited to be able to offer a new, permanent Band 6 Occupational Therapist role within the BCUHB wide Level 3 Weight Management Service for Children and Young People. This relatively new service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping children and families to join the multidisciplinary team. They will work with a Band 4 Therapies Assistant to help break down barriers (whatever they may be!) to help children engage and set small, sustainable goals to improve their health whilst they attend the 12 month Help Me To Be Healthy programme. They will also supervise Band 3 assistants, devising and implementing improvements to the virtual exercise sessions delivered as part of the programme to improve functionality.听
Main duties of the job
Obesity in children is multifactorial so a flexible approach will be needed to tailor support for each family and address their child鈥檚 specific needs which may be a mixture of emotional, behavioural, mental or/and physical. The successful applicant will help the service lead develop the pathway for OT input but is likely to be involved in designing and facilitating group and individual interventions, both virtual and face-to-face, to support emotional, behavioural and activity elements. As a newly formed team a natural passion for iterative quality improvement is necessary to support changes which will ultimately enable beneficial outcomes for the children on the programme.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
