Job overview

The post holder will work as a senior member of the team providing support and advice alongside effective leadership to a specified clinical team. This will be achieved by ensuring the provision of high quality safe and effective care.

Deliver high quality care to children and young people presenting with a wide variety of undifferentiated conditions. This will include comprehensive assessment, interpretation of investigations, provision of treatment and decision making about ongoing care

To monitor clinical outcomes and patient experience

Main duties of the job

  1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment and interventions and care for children and young people presenting with a number of diagnosis.
  2. Utilise highly effective communication skills to ensure children, young people and their families are fully informed and consent to treatment
  3. Recognise and work within own competence and professional code as regulated by the NMC
  4. To be a highly visible presence, acting as a role model
  5. To work within multi-agency and multi-disciplinary teams in order to ensure children and people's needs are met
  6. Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping in line with local and National guidance.
  7. To develop own learning and contribute to the development and innovation of the service.
  8. Review training and development of all staff, so all staff have a personal development plan and to support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a key developmental role supporting the Matron for the Emergency Department in Urgent Care Group. The purpose of this post is to oversee, lead & take responsibility for the day to day management of the ED nursing performance. The role will support the achievement of all local, organisational and national standards and compliance (CQC, NICE, GPICS, Clinical Governance and risk).

The post holder will provide visible & effective leadership to staff within the Intensive care unit. Provision of this visibility will provide accessible and authoritative presence to whom staff, patients and families can turn to for advice, support and assistance.

Essential criteria
  • band 7 for minimum 2 years
  • educated to degree level
  • Experience of implementing effective change into a clinical setting.
