Job overview
This post requires a high level of experience and expertise, due to the high volume of referrals it receives and the unpredictable complexities presented to it.
The role will include both clinical and day to day responsibilities and the job description outlines some of the main areas of responsibility for the post. ÌýHowever, this is not an exhaustive list and is subject to change depending upon departmental requirements.Ìý
You will be required to work within the Fetal Medicine Department, which promotes the Trust’s values, objectives, priorities and high performance standards both individually and as a team. Hence, the Trust’s success is dependent on all staff to play an active role to make sure that the existing good practice is universally embedded within the organisation.

Main duties of the job
· Take responsibility for the co-ordination of consultant-led lists, ensuring that the appropriate information is attached to each patient and to assist the lead consultant or midwife in invasive procedures as required.
· To take continuing responsibility with the consultant-led lists and ensure that any antenatal care, referrals, plans of care are completed and sent to the necessary location as required.Ìý
· To support women with highly specialist information and counselling when a fetal abnormality is suspected or diagnosed.
· To be involved in the provision of counselling, specialist information and provide continuing support for women considering or undergoing termination of pregnancy for abnormality.Ìý
· For those women who are recalled following biochemical screening tests you will have to work closely with the antenatal screening service. Therefore, be able to facilitate their care appropriately within the Fetal Medicine Department.
· Responsible for sharing information of normal and abnormal results to women and their local trusts following an invasive procedure in an expeditious manner.
· To triage referrals and support administration staff in allocating women on to the appropriate lists and ensure that these women are aware of their appointments.

- Excellent knowledge of medical conditions affecting pregnancy
Desirable criteria
- To possess a basic knowledge/understanding of fetal medicine. E.g. • Common fetal abnormalities • Screening/diagnostic tests • Invasive procedures/treatments • Chromosomes & genetics
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills and to be able to make appropriate decisions in an emergency
- Be able to present information to a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Viewpoint 6 system Knowledge of Badger net system
