Job overview

The post offers a varied role as an integral听 member of a nursing team, offering treatment room appointments听 and supporting in the听 long term condition management of patients. The successful applicant will work in both clinic type settings and the patients own homes/care homes, as required.

As a Band 3 HCA, support will be offered to enable participation in immunisation programmes听 听such as influenza, pneumovax and shingles programmes.

Main duties of the job

Working under the supervision of trained nurses;

  • Immunisations.
  • ECG's
  • Basic dressings.
  • Patient reviews
  • New Patient Health checks
  • Blood pressure management.
  • Physical health checks.
  • Stock, fridge audits and infection control.
  • Advising re diet and lifestyle in relation to听 chronic disease.
  • Phlebotomy听
  • Task management for wider team and organisation.
  • Vaccinations
  • Infection control

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or other health care environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Working with vulnerable patients such as patients with dementia, Learning Disabilities
  • Supporting /mentoring junior staff

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Key skills 鈥 literacy and numeric (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 3 In Direct Care
  • NVQ Level III in Direct Care/Post Natal Care/Diagnostics and Therapeutics
Desirable criteria
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • De-escalation and physical restraint
