Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of clinical fellow (ST3+equivalent) in Medical Retina at BMEC. This is an exciting job opportunity to work in a dynamic and busy department. This post is for a fixed term of 12 months with possibility of extension. Suitable applicants must have full GMC registration.
Post may close early if enough suitable applications are received .
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to have reasonable medical retina competence in managing common retinal and macular diseases such as wet-AMD and diabetic retinopathy. There will be opportunity to further increase experience in these common medical retinal disorders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Medial retina department has a team of five consultants giving the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to be exposed to common and rarer conditions. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art multimodal retinal diagnostic imaging including wide field imaging and OCT-angiography. The department is fully equipped with various lasers including multi-spot, subthreshold, Indirect and PDT laser. There will also be opportunity to learn management of hereditary retinal disorders while working in genetic clinic.
There will be opportunity in taking part in ongoing research projects including various multicentre clinical trials.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Basic Medical Qualification (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- FRCOphth or equivalent
- BMedSc/BA/BSc/MSc
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- A minimum of ST1/2 or higher grade or equivalent in Ophthalmology with medical retina experience.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in Uveitis
