This advancedÌý cancer and aseptics pharmacist role is an integral member of the cancer multidisciplinary team responsible for all pharmaceutical aspects of the patients care so that the patient journey is as smooth as possible. The role is pivotal to the safe administration of medicines.Ìý
The role requires a proactive positive approach and an excellent team player. At BHT the post holder will gain experience working with a wide range of haematology and oncology patients ranging from paediatrics to adults. The post holder will gain valuable aseptic experience in our aseptic suite and they will liaise closely with the chemotherapy trained nurses on the day units and the inpatient haematology ward where we offer stem cell transplants. BHT ÌýCancer service is growing rapidly and newly NICE approved medications are being initiated and the service offering is being developed. As an integral part of the team this role will be working with the multi-disciplinary teams to develop the services.

To clinically verify prescriptions for patients in a timely and accurate manner. To accuracy check dispensed medicines and support logistics to deliver correct cancer and supportive medicines accurately and on time.
ÌýTo work with clinical teams at the point of care delivery to understand patients medication history, clinical needs and providing medicines knowledge as required to support Ìýthe patient journey.
ÌýTo support patients understanding of their medicines through counselling, drug history taking, and medicines reconciliation. The role is expected to act in a compassionate, empathetic, and professional manner that supports the pharmacy department and trusts values.
ÌýThe Advanced Pharmacist for Cancer & Aseptics is accountable for developing and maintaining a clinical prescribing service to cancer patients as required under clinical supervision.
ÌýThe role is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to the cancer directorate and associated areas. The post holder will manager medicines related risk and ensure that the Trust Medicines’ Policy and Medicines legislation is complied with.
ÌýThe post holder collaborates with the accountable pharmacist for the unlicensed Aseptic Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, to facilitate the delivery of compliant aseptic medicines; in accordance with the National Standard for Good Manufacturing and agreed local and national objectives and policies.

- Pharmacy Degree
- Registered Pharmacist on GPhC register.
- Post-graduate diploma in clinically-based pharmacy or recognised equivalent.

- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain or equivalent professional body
- Independent prescribing qualification
- First line management course
Experience

- Significant post registration experience
- Evidence of significant CPD
- Delivery of a pharmacy service involving oncology/haematology
- Delivery of a pharmacy aseptic manufacturing service
- Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties.
- Delivery of a pharmacy services to a specialist level in oncology/ haematology.
- Experience of conducting service audits and the use of performance indicators.
- Experience in pre-registration training

- Prepared to attend any training sessions necessary for personal and service development.
