Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Medical Oncology to join the Cancer Directorate at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, North West Anglia Foundation Trust. This is a substantive post in Breast on both sites and Gynaeoncology at Hinchingbrooke Hospital for 10 PAs (6 PA CUH/4 PA NWAFT).

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join the Breast and Gynaeoncology teams at Addenbrooke’s and Hinchingbrooke hospitals. The duties of this post include working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams, running outpatient clinics in breast and gynae cancers, an on-call commitment and ward cover at the Cancer Centre and acute oncology cover at Hinchingbrooke. The teams are well established and clinical research and entry of patients into national and international clinical trials is encouraged. The candidate should have a high regard for clinical effectiveness and should practise evidence based medicine. They should participate in audit and teaching and continuing medical education.  

You will be fully registered with the GMC and would be expected to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.  Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
