We at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) are looking to hire a band 6 Radiographer right now at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.Ìý

Main duties of the job

To produce high quality diagnostic images and provide high quality patient care to the service users adhering to national guidelines and taking into account relevant legislation including, but not limited to, the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2018 and the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17).

The post holder will participate in all areas of the clinical rota to include dental, theatre, accident and emergency, orthopaedics, endoscopy, mobile procedures, paediatrics, CT and fluoroscopy and work independently when required. There will be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours, where you will be working unsupervised in a multi disciplinary role as part of the decision process in patient management (A&E red dot).

May undertake one of more of the following as extended role:

  • Venopuncture
  • Work in a specialised modality, e.g. Computerised TomographyÌý
  • Representative at Trust wide meetings e.g. improving working lives

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake tasks in all areas of the department in line with departmental protocols.

These includes:

  • Providing high quality clinical and technical service
  • Implementing diagnostic procedures in line with department protocols
  • Using professional and highly developed physical skills to manipulate equipment with narrow margins for error.
  • Position patients using dexterity, coordination and sensory skills and where appropriate intravenous access and administration of medicines in accordance with department protocols.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation pertaining to radiography is completed
  • Ensuring all radiographs are correctly identified and managed in accordance with departmental protocols
  • Operation and maintenance of radiography equipment according to established protocols

Person specification

Education & qualification

Essential criteria
  • GCSE & A level equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • DCR or BSC Hons
  • CPD Portfolio

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent general radiography experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in intravenous cannulation

Key Skills

Essential criteria
  • Keyboard skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of local NHS targets and initiatives
  • Knowledge of CRIS and PACS
