We are looking for a Band 6 for 30 hours per weekÌý
The Legacy Mentor role should appeal to experienced health and social care professionals in the late stages of their career. You will be helping newly qualifiedÌý AHPs and AHP's appointed into senior clinical roles by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and mentoring.Ìý You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others.Ìý We can all reflect on the importance of mentors and role models in our own careers, and this is an opportunity to have that kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a career in health and care.Ìý the legacy mentor role- AHP will be expected to work closely with educators within the trust to enhance the support provided to the AHP workforce to ensure AHP's thrive within their roles and want to stay within their roles.
Main duties of the job
- To help facilitate a positive working environment for people in their early career and in newly appointed senior roles such as deputy and manager roles and provide support where possible through coaching and mentoring.
- Collaborate and work closely with Practice development In addition to mentoring and coaching newly qualified registrants and colleagues in newly appointed senior roles, collaborate with practice development colleagues to support placement environments for learners, to ensure consistency of support across the organisation.Ìý
- Provide clinical expertise on a range of projects, supporting best practice and enhancing the learning environment for AHP registered clinical professionals.Ìý
- Raise the profile of the role of legacy mentors and share good practice with others, enhancing the profile of the organisation and providing support toÌý service leads, matrons, and divisional leads.
- Work as an integral member of the team to develop appropriate strategies and implementÌý for AHPs in early career, and support retention.
- Legacy mentors will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others. The role will require a degree of flexibility and creativity with a close working relationship with both practice development team colleagues and department managers.Ìý
- Legacy mentors will be providing coaching and mentoring and will be given any necessary training to develop this skill.Ìý

Education
Essential criteria
- Registered AHP with HCPC
- Degree level AHP
- Teaching and Assessing Qualification
Desirable criteria
- Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Education
- Coaching Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of Clinical practice within AHP discipline
- Evidence of ongoing professional knowledge and development
- Experience of supporting pre and post reg learners in practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience In a leadership post
- Experience of both formal and informal teaching
- Experience of data collection, analysis, and evaluation
- Experience of Report Writing
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care confidently and competently
- Can prioritise tasks
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships
- Shows high level of clinical knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Able to adopt a coaching style of communication where appropriate
