About Us
Located on the Peterborough City Hospital site, our units are dedicated to delivering the very highest standards of care to children aged 0–18 years. With 30 inpatient beds, including 12 en-suite cubicles, a 2-bedded HDU area, and 4 four-bedded bays, we’re equipped to manage a wide range of general paediatric conditions. Additionally, our Day Surgery/Day Care Unit caters to up to 12 surgical patients daily.
Our Jungle Paediatric Assessment Unit supports up to 16 patients, providing a seamless journey for children referred by GPs, other health professionals, or from the Emergency Department.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking enthusiastic and compassionate nurses who:
- Have a live NMC registration or are UK nursing students awaiting their PIN (unfortunately, we cannot support OSCE at this time).
- Are dedicated to delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced, paediatric environment.
- Thrive in a multidisciplinary setting and enjoy supporting families during challenging times.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Deliver and evaluate comprehensive physical, social, and emotional care for children and adolescents in alignment with evidence-based practice, policies, and the NMC Code of Practice.
- Foster a supportive environment that values high-quality nursing care.
- Act as an advocate for children receiving care, ensuring their needs and rights are prioritized.
- Collaborate with nursing and multidisciplinary teams to plan and deliver effective care.
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based practices and encourage reflective practice within the Children’s service.
- Support and implement innovative changes in the Nursing Service, guided by clinical evidence, national standards, and relevant reports.
- Maintain awareness of and adhere to guidelines related to Child Protection.

Education & Qualification
Essential criteria
- RSCN/RN Child with NMC Registration
- Mentorship module or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years experience within speciality / acute care area
- Post registration qualification or course evidence in High Dependency Care level 1 and or 2 relevant to clinical speciality
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Leadership Course
- PILS/ALS trained
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Management qualification
- Post registration qualification relevant to clinical speciality
- Completed or undertaking a first level degree in Nursing/ Health Studies
Experience
Essential criteria
- Uses evidence base practice to support patient care delivery
- Understanding of Healthcare Governance and its application
- Experience of managing teams
- Evidence of being a Reflective Practitioner
- Demonstration of autonomous practice
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Experience of caring for children and young people within a Paediatric High Dependency or PICU environment
- Expert clinical role model who is committed to improvement of standards and patient care.
Desirable criteria
- Previous management experience
