Shape the Future of Radiotherapy Treatment at Peterborough City Hospital

Due to an internal secondment, we are seeking a highly experienced, registered Radiotherapy Dosimetrist (HCPC/VRCT) to take a senior role within our radiotherapy planning team at Peterborough City Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence the direction of our cutting-edge radiotherapy services and join a team dedicated to providing top-tier patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as lead for SABR planning and technique development, or acting as planning lead for clinical trials implementation and national audit
  • Deputising for the Radiotherapy Planning Manager as required
  • Assisting with the management of complex treatment planning pathways
  • Provision of highly complex clinical technical information to oncologists and radiographers
  • Training of radiographer, planning, and physics staff in treatment planning techniques

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc degree in Radiography, Radiotherapy Physics, or equivalent
  • Higher degree (MSc or equivalent) or equivalent level of experience
  • Qualified Clinical Technologist or Therapy Radiographer (with, or eligible for, registration with the HCPC or the Voluntary Register for Clinical Technologists).
Desirable criteria
  • Published papers/presentations

Key Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017
  • Extensive knowledge of the techniques employed to produce and check radiotherapy treatment plans and measure radiation doses.
  • Experience of managing clinical teams to maintain radiotherapy planning pathways

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Specialist experience in the use of specialist software for the planning of very complex, patient-critical radiotherapy
  • Highly-specialist clinical experience of advanced radiotherapy planning techniques, including SABR
  • Experience of radiotherapy planning trials QA, management, and reporting processes.
