Clinical Orthopaedic Fellow in Elbow/Shoulder Surgery

Applications are invited for the above post commencing to start from either 6 August 2025 .

The Orthopaedic and Trauma Department is based in the two Major Teaching Hospitals in the City of Cardiff, the Capital of Wales.

The post is attached to the Cardiff Upper Limb Team at the University Hospital Llandough and serves a local population of 500,000 and provides a tertiary referral service for a population of 1.5 million.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will gain experience in Elbow/ Shoulder replacement Surgery and arthroscopic surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in ongoing research projects together with specific research.

The Post Holder will be expected to work at specialist Registrar level and will participate in the specialist Registrar on call rota at Llandough Hospital.

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Training in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend next available course
  • FRCS (Tr & Orth) completed
Desirable criteria
  • Intercalated Degree
  • MSc or PHD
  • Academic Excellence

Previous Experience

  • Registrar Training programme or equivalent completed
Desirable criteria
  • Interest in Shoulder/Elbow Surgery
