An exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced administration team leader has become available at Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW).
Sitting alongside Health Boards and Trusts, HEIW is the only Special Health Authority in NHS Wales and plays a leading role in the education, training, development and shaping of the healthcare workforce in Wales, supporting high quality care for the people of Wales.
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) drives the development of a skilled and motivated healthcare workforce to meet the evolving needs of NHS Wales. Central to this role is the Education and Training Plan (ETP), a comprehensive framework that supports and shapes professional education across primary, community, secondary, and tertiary services.
The main focus for the Assistant Planner will be the daily coordination of ETP activities, including stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and progress reporting. By collaborating closely with senior managers, clinicians, and partner organisations, the post holder will help produce integrated workforce, service, and financial plans. This will be essential for delivering timely outcomes, in line with organisational objectives and project requirements.
Main duties of the job
- Support the Planning and Performance Business Partner in the development and day to day management of the Special Health Authority鈥檚 (SHA鈥檚) Education and Training Plan (ETP) with specific responsibility for the delivery plan including stakeholder engagement.
- Co-ordinate the development of professional plans that support a comprehensive system of professional education across primary, community, secondary and tertiary services to deliver the workforce of the future required by the service.
- Be a senior professional within the organisation and will be a key member of the Planning and Performance Team within the Finance, Planning and Performance Directorate. They will provide direct support to the Planning and Performance Business Partner.
- Work with senior managers, clinicians and teams to support the development of integrated service, workforce and financial plans that will deliver key organisational objectives.
- Lead specific projects and, provide support for the SHA鈥檚 strategic plans and monitor progress in achieving service and strategic change.
- Produce reports and updates as required to the Planning and Performance Team and other forums such as Executive Team when commissioned to do so, with a key role in progress reporting of the Education Training Plan.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Master's level qualification or equivalent level of work experience
- Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE 2, MSP) or equivalent project and programme management experience
