Job overview
The NHS R&D Departments led by a R&D Director provide local services for research support and facilitates the sponsoring and hosting of studies within in each UHB.听听 Part of this service includes a NHS research delivery team consisting of Research Nurses, Research Officers and Administrators, employed by NHS organisations to support the delivery of high quality health and social care studies. The Research Officer will be a part of these NHS research delivery teams.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 2 years from start date due to funding. 听 If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post. 听
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role is to support the setup of research studies and the recruitment, assessment and ongoing听 management of patients into these studies.
You will liaise regularly with many of听 many of our key stakeholders including, senior nurses, and multidisciplinary teams as well as the wider research teams supporting several different studies.
This post is based at University Hospital of Llandough. Some cross site working will be expected.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- The purpose of this post is to increase the number of patients participating in clinical trials at Cardiff and Vale HB.
- The post will contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials.听 This will include the recruitment, education and a monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
- The post holder will be working with Lead Nurses and multidisciplinary teams within the Clinical Boards and Directorates as well as the wider research teams assisting with the management of a caseload of clinical trials patients.
- The post will assess and carry out clinical procedures for patients/participants and will be considered part of the clinical team during the participants鈥 involvement with the study.听 Implementing a programme of care, providing advice and will maintain records within various settings.
- As part of the Research and Development team the post holder will contribute to the efficient set up and delivery of research within the UHB contributing to the performance metrics set for the UHB.
