Job overview

An exciting Opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join the team at Amman Valley Hospital.Ìý This is a 28 bedded unit focusing on rehabilitation of the elderly.Ìý The service is both GP and consultant led.Ìý Admission are accepted from the community and both general hospitals within Carmarthenshire.

The team work along side community, primary care and the acute sites to develop an integrated rehabilitation approach to promoting patient independence and best outcomes for discharge.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skill in order to use and apply this knowledge and skills to facilitate complex discharges.

The candidate must hold level 1 registration in nursing have evidence of on going CPD and have knowledge of multi agency working, community services and awareness of the Continuing health Care Process.

Main duties of the job

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development / experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate diploma level study)
  • Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification ( or equivalent experience)
  • Recognised management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
  • Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment
  • Experience of running a ward/area/department
  • Experience of working with pre-registration nursing / midwifery students
  • Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring pre-registration nursing or midwifery students
  • Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
  • IT skills
  • Supervisory management skills
  • Able to relate theory into practice
