Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Senior Practitioner, Band 6 on Cwm Seren Low Secure UnitÌý which is a male 14 bedded low secure unit in Carmarthen.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in anÌý in-patient setting and will demonstrate dynamic and innovative practice. The Service strives to provide high quality secure services inpatient mental health care to the local population and the post holder would be expected to demonstrate leadership and resilience in the face of the day to day clinical, managerial and professional demands of the role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a qualified and registered Mental Health Nurse and will provide clinical leadership to an established and developing team of clinicians.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate they have the skills, knowledge and experience to provide clinical leadership to manage the service, will require excellent interpersonal communication skills, be able to work across agencies and services and demonstrate a high level understanding of local developments. The post holder will be expected to take charge in the absence of the Ward Manager who has overall continuing responsibility.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- RMN (RNMH)
- Experience in area of practice to postgraduate diploma level.
- Sound knowledge of clinical issues within area of practice through post registration training.
- Must be able to work safely and demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Maintains high standards in the workplace as directed by policies and procedures including sickness.
- Knowledge of clinical supervision and aware of clinical effectiveness in work area
Desirable criteria
- WNB 998/Practice Teacher Award and assessing or equivalent
- HCR-20 Training
- Specialist knowledge within relevant specialist field obtained through advanced post registration specialist training
- Have an understanding and knowledge of local area and facilities within area that clients may access
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people who have complex mental health needs and who may present challenging behaviour/ risk of violence to others
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and must be willing to undertake identified local courses/ study days and mandatory training
Language Skills
Desirable criteria
- Welsh speaker (Level 1)
