Job overview

Hywel Dda Radiology is looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Consultant Radiologist with special interest in Women’s Imaging to join a progressive team of consultants and contribute to the on-going development of radiological services across our Health Board.

Main duties of the job

This appointment is Health Board wide, and the successful candidate would join the radiology team to provide MSK CT, MRI, ultrasound and interventional services to support the Health Board. The candidate will contribute to the wider workload of the department subject to job plan discussions, including general radiology, second on call rotas, teaching of radiology trainees, reporting Radiographers, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff. Flexible working arrangements will be considered and discussions as to individual requirements and how they could be accommodated are welcomed.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services

• Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • On Specialist Register/SpR due to obtain relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview
  • FRCR or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD; PhD; MSc MRCP

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad based experience in General Radiology
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and participation in CPD
  • Competence and expertise in General Radiology
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of NHS Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service
  • Evidence of above average performance Additional clinical qualification(s)

Clinical Governance

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of risk management

Research

Essential criteria
  • Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence so as to improve clinical outcomes
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of initiating, progressing and concluding research projects with publication

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors
