The Medical Education Department at Prince Philip Hospital are looking to recruit a Clinical Skills Co-ordinator, on a fixed term 12 month basis. The exciting role is to provide technical support for clinical skills and simulation teaching for medical and physician associate students and medical staff at various levels in their training. The post also requires supporting student and junior doctor induction, general support in the department, some administrative tasks and working with colleagues on other sites.听
The applicant should demonstrate they work well within a team, with experience of working in a clinical environment an advantage. Excellent communication skills and a knowledge of administrative procedures and excellent technology and digital IT skills are also required. Training on the set up and maintenance of skills and simulation equipment will be given.听
The hours are full time and requires some flexibility. Less than full time working would be considered.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role include:-
- Co-ordinating the clinical skills and simulation teaching and learning for students, trainees and work experience students
- Prepare the learning environment听
- Create certificates for attendance and presentation
- Liaise with key stakeholders such as clinical teams and universities
- Obtain feedback from service users to inform future provision with a view to continual improvements
- Be a team player and work with other medical education centre staff to ensure the general smooth running of the centre

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical skills and simulation teaching and learning is an integral part of medical education.听
Main responsibilities of the role will include:-
- Supporting the provision of high quality medical education through the co-ordination of clinical skills and simulation training
-听 Working with the Medical Education Teams and Universities to plan and prepare for teaching and learning which corresponds with relevant curricula and learning needs
- Identify opportunities to continually improve the service offered in order to make Hywel Dda the place to be for medical education and training

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- HNC/HND or Diploma qualification or proven experience of work at this level
- Knowledge of a range of administrative procedures
- Knowledge of IT systems including Outlook, Excel spreadsheets and databases
Desirable criteria
- Educated to Diploma level or attainment of HCSW NVQ level 3
- Knowledge of working in a clinical area
- Knowledge of the Medical Education process within the NHS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Experience of working co-operatively with colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work
Desirable criteria
- Experience of training and teaching
