An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join Ward 9 in Prince Phillip Hospital.Ìý
Ward 9 is a 29 bed Stroke and Rehabilitation Ward, with a 5 bed Acute Stroke Unit within it.Ìý ÌýWard 9 delivers acute stroke care and facilitates rehabilitation with a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach.ÌýÌý
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled nurse to provide professional leadership and management to support the Ward Manager. The post offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual with a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in the daily running of the ward. The post holder will adopt a highly visible and accessible approach, leading by example and empowering their team to maintain patient safety, improve patient care and experience, and sustain high standards of nursing care.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will combine excellent clinical practice, with day-to-day shift coordination and undertaking leadership and management responsibilities in support of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. Continually support and work in conjunction with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, including deputising/taking charge of the clinical area/team in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Provide supervisory management and leadership skills in a clinical environment which can be complex and pressurised.
Provide professional nursing leadership and guidance (in line with NMC standards), clinical advice, and undertake management and monitoring activities to ensure the effective delivery of high standards of nursing care at all times.
Work alongside the nursing team members and MDT, providing support to junior colleagues in the provision of direct care.Ìý
Proactively contribute to the implementation of the NMC Standards for education, including the standards for student supervision and assessment.
Provide leadership and role modelling in the development and mentorship of new and other staff.
Demonstrate the Health Board’s values and beliefs in everything that you do within the work environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse - Part 1
- Current NMC Registration
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- Pertinent postgraduate diploma or equivalent development and, or experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate diploma level study
- Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Recognised management qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Appropriate experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code 2015
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
- Experience of running a ward, area or department
- Experience of working with pre-registration nursing or midwifery students
- Experience of formal or informal teaching and of mentoring pre-registration nursing or midwifery students
- Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
