Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a ward clerk supporting the Care of the Elderly Ward 7 Team.听 The successful candidate will need to be forward thinking and be able to provide a full range of clerical duties to support the smooth running of the ward. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will have previous office experience, ideally in a similar role and be able to priorities work to meet tight deadlines. A good general education is required. Knowledge of health IT systems to include PCS would be desirable although full training will be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Be able to use the required electronic systems receiving patients for attendance or admission, booking them into the system to record arrival, discharge and any follow-up appointments, promptly updating information as required, to ensure accurate recording and retrieval of information, Co-ordinate a support service for patients to include arranging ambulance transport, porters, patient meals, linen and maintenance requests as required, including dealing with donations and patient belongings adhering to Trust policies.
2. Update case notes when patients have been seen, according to the agreed quality standard, locate and retrieve supplementary documentation for case notes as required, filing diagnostic reports and essential documents in the appropriate place,
3. Provide a comprehensive clerical service to the ward team, undertaking all work-related correspondence, photocopying, faxing and emailing, distributing reports and letters according to the requirements of the service,
4. Maintain constructive relationships with others, within and across Divisions and externally in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services to patients,

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE/ PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Proficient in computer skills, ECDL or equivalent, Microsoft Office
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality in accordance with Data Protection Act and national/local guidelines
