Applications are invited from experiencedÌý Consultant Neurologists to join the Speciality Medicine Collaborative, here at NCIC. The Neurology service is delivered across a number of sites in North Cumbria as well as providing an in reach service to the 2 acute hospitals. In addition to managing general Neurology referrals, the trust has developed a number of sub specialties and applicants will be required to have experience in MS.

Main duties of the job

The posts will involve out-patient and in-patient consultations. Specific commitments would be agreed in negotiation with colleagues once appointed, There are a number of outpatients clinics that are delivered cross sites across the Trust when needed giving you the opportunity to see the wonderful landscape of North Cumbria . The department also operates A&G to GP and consultant colleagues alike within normal office hours.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Fully registration with the General Medical Council
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
Desirable criteria
  • MD or PhD degree

Clinical Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Specialist Registrar in Neurology or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with primary care / community colleagues
  • A commitment to and experience of teaching
  • Experience of structured patient education
  • A sub-speciality Neurology interest

Knowledge

  • Able to complete basic history taking and examination –physical and mental.
  • Evidence based practice
