University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic locum Clinical Fellow in Cardiology to join our Trust. The post will be based at Queens Hospital Burton
A busy, progressive and forward thinking hospital, rated 'Good' by the CQC in 2019, invites you to join the Consultants and Cardiology team.
12 month contractÌý
Although this post is not recognised for training, it provides excellent experience in a Speciality Training level post at a busy friendly Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
There is a cardiology diagnostic department performing echocardiograms, pacing checks, tilt table testing as well as exercise stress testing. The post will be based in CCU/Cardiology. Ability to participate in low frequency IM on call would be advantageous.Ìý
You will receive supervision, access to an Eportfolio and be encouraged to join the established regional registrar teaching programmes. You will have a study leave budget and subject to individual requirements, there may be scope to facilitate attendance at Advanced Life Support (ALS) or IMPACT courses and we will perform your annual appraisal.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ìý
- Day to day management of inpatients on the coronary care unit and Cardiology wards. There are daily consultant rounds on CCU, daily hot lists performing acute angiography and three weekly rounds by the consultant on the wards.
- Participation in Cardiology out-patient clinics (under supervision)
- Supervision of a cardioversion lists
- Supervision of junior doctors
- Teaching of junior doctors and medial students
- Sessions in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory – angiography, observing PCI and pacing, according to stage and needs of training
- Echocardiography – according to stage and needs of training
- Other – attend Cardiac CT/MR/nuclear medicine sessions
- Provision of out of hours and on-call cover in Cardiology and acute medicine
- Provision of in-hospital consultation requested by other physician or surgical teams
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP part 1
- Advanced Life support certification
Desirable criteria
- Part 2 written and PACES MRCP examinations
- Presentation/publications
- Other degrees Higher degrees
Experience / Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Completed at least 2 years full-time training after foundation years in CMT or equivalent medical specialties experience (or 18 months if MRCP diploma achieved).
- Full registration with GMC and Licence to Practise at time of application
- A minimum of 6 months experience within a UK Healthcare setting
- Experience in acute/general medicine of at least 6 months in last 2 years
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of experience in teaching with feedback
- Experience in Cardiology

- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk

- Evidence of active participation in audit
