Job overview

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Acute Medicine to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our commitment to enhancing Acute and Emergency Care for our patients. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our Quality Improvement Programme, contributing to the development of future services for the local population. There are opportunities within the role and wider trust to develop specialist interests and applicants with an existing area of specialist interest or CCT in a speciality other that acute medicine is advised to get in touch and discuss their specific requirements. Current consultants have a broad range of backgrounds, specialities and specialist interests including ECHO; Education; Emergency Medicine; Geriatrics; Governance; Leadership; Quality improvement; POCUS; Respiratory medicine; and Renal medicine. The opportunity also exists within the trust for a Divisional or Care Unit (Clinical Director) level leadership position, allowing the successful applicant to perform Ìýan acute medicine role alongside a more senior leadership position.

Main duties of the job

ÌýKey Responsibilities:

Provide high quality direct and indirect clinical care.

Education, including clinical supervision and participation in team and service clinical meetings.

ÌýEngage in supporting professional activities such as audit and evaluation, teaching, clinical governance, and essential meetings.

Participate in continuous professional development, including fulfilling requirements for GMC revalidation and statutory and mandatory training.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MRCP/FRCP or equivalent
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty
  • Higher degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients with acute and general medical problems
  • Ability to organise and manage patient lists and priorities
  • Quality/audit project experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a similar post
  • Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., SystmOne.
  • Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Clinical supervision experience/skills
  • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Motivation skills, leadership skills and flexibility.
