Job overview
We are looking to appoint an Orthopaedic Consultant to further develop our highly rated soft tissue knee surgery services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your sub-specialist interest in acute knee injuries and elective soft tissue knee surgery.
Applicants will be expected to have completed specialist training in Orthopaedics at FRCS level and to have completed at least 1 post CCT fellowship in soft tissue knee surgery.
The post is an expansion to increase our soft tissue specialist consultant base to 3 consultants and will suit those with the desire and resolve to provide modern, high-quality care, giving opportunity to support service improvement. Consideration will be given for flexible working options, subject to the exigencies of the service.
Please note that interviews will be scheduled to take place in April and exact dates will be confirmed and communicated after shortlisting has taken place

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
Desirable criteria
- Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of at least 1 post CCT soft tissue knee fellowship
- Ability to demonstrate trauma expertise in hip and knee and general trauma.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Clinical supervision experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a similar post with logbook of soft tissue knee procedures
- Experience with children’s knee pathology
- Completion of service improvement in knee surgery
- Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., SystemOne, Careflow, Nerve centre
Skills
Essential criteria
- Clinical supervision skills
Desirable criteria
- Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education.
- Knowledge of enhanced recovery pathways and day case arthroplasty
