Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the department of Child Health at Chesterfield Royal Hospital as a substantive Consultant Paediatrician. We are known for our high quality patient centred care, excellent team working, resilience and our collaboration with other colleagues across the network.
The appointee will provide services in Acute Paediatrics, level 2 Neonates and we will aim to support interest in Paediatric sub-specialties. Experience in Community Paediatrics to support our community team would be welcomed to help with our service needs. We encourage candidates to arrange to meet the team prior to interview, to discuss further opportunities and other sub-specialty interests.
The department is part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire, and the Expert Advisory Forum, to aim for uniform and standardised services across the borders and to have a multidisciplinary workforce model.
The role is likely to require participation in the General Paediatric and Neonatal on-call rota on a 1:10 basis and we would like the successful candidate to explore the possibility of joining the well supported 1:5 SUDI rota.

Essential criteria
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- GMC registered with license to practise, and listed on the Specialist Register or due to be included within 6 months of interview
- Valid provider status in APLS and NLS
Desirable criteria
- RCPCH supervision course
- Higher qualification
- APLS/NLS instructor status
Experience
Essential criteria
- Level 3 safeguarding competency
- Clinical Skills teaching experience
- Experience in paediatric assessment unit and level 2 neonatal unit
- Teaching experience
Desirable criteria
- Additional sub-speciality paediatric experience
- Experience in NHS management
- Management of teams
