Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary Stroke team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is set out at a standard 10 PAs however, we are also offering the opportunity to undertake a more varied role within Medicine, which could include:Ìý

Clinical Director of the General Medicine Care Unit

Potential to continue other speciality work e.g. in Acute Medicine

A lead role for MECD in Undergraduate Medical Education

Our ambition is to provide high quality servicesÌýfor patients across North Derbyshire and the surrounding area.Ìý The successful candidate will take independent responsibility for care of patients in all elements of the pathway,Ìýengage fully with the clinical MDT, and provide expert clinical opinion and leadership for the service.

This post will suit someone with ambition, drive and passion, who is committed to supporting the achievement of our aspiration to move our current award of SSNAP ‘C’ to a ‘B’ and then a coveted ‘A’ rating. We are seeking someone with mentoring skills, who has a commitment to providing education and training for our medical workforce, students and wider clinical team.Ìý

There is no requirement to be part of the General Medicine consultant on call rota.Ìý However, the appointee will have an opportunity to contribute to the 7-day Stroke and Geriatrics provisions, which comprises weekend work on the Acute Frailty Unit and Eastwood ward.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT or equivalent) at time of interview.
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Quality/audit project experience.
  • Experience of participation in CPD.
  • Clinical supervision experience/skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a similar post.
  • Previous experience of using online patient record system e.g., SystemOne

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Motivation skills, leadership skills and flexibility
