An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist with substantial experience in the field of neurology, to support the provision and development of our services to the stroke unit ,early supported discharge for stroke, neurology in-patients and neurology out-patients.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will be able to evidence post-graduate experience in the fields of acute stroke care and stroke rehabilitation. They will also have experience of the in and out-patient rehabilitation of patients with a wide range of other neurological conditions. Applicants will be responsible, along with the rest of the senior team, for supervising more junior physiotherapists, TI鈥檚 and assistants based within the team.

Hours will be worked to support the 7 day provision of inpatient stroke care and applicants will be expected to have a flexible approach to this.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Trust provides clinical placements for students from Sheffield and Nottingham and applicants will have experience of supporting students on undergraduate placements.

The Trust is committed to supporting and developing staff through appraisals and the supervision process. Senior staff have individual supervision and peer support as well as access to training.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • 鈥 Qualification in Physiotherapy at degree level or equivalent.
  • 鈥 HCPC registered.
Desirable criteria
  • 鈥 Relevant postgraduate courses

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • 鈥 Awareness of Trust and NHS wide initiatives
  • 鈥 Knowledge of current drivers of service improvement in relation to stroke rehabilitation
  • 鈥 Time management and prioritisation skills.
  • 鈥 Demonstrate knowledge of neurological conditions and their management.
  • 鈥 Experience in evaluation of practice
  • 鈥 Evidence of CPD in Neurological Physiotherapy
  • 鈥 Involvement in department, Trust or NHS wide initiatives
  • 鈥 ICT skills
Desirable criteria
  • 鈥 Involvement in clinical audit.
  • 鈥 Involvement in service and interdisciplinary development
  • 鈥 Clinical educator鈥檚 course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 鈥 Postgraduate experience of in patient stroke care and/or in and out patient neurological rehabilitation.
