Job overview
To provide a comprehensive administration service within the Neurosurgery service line.Ìý Supporting the Band 4 Speciality Coordinator to provide secretarial support to the Consultants and wider medical team in an efficient and timely manner. This post is part of a professional multi-skilled team working within the Neurosurgery Service.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
The key responsibilities of this role are the effective and efficient management of specific departmental and patient administration systems, ensuring strict adherence and compliance to all Trust Policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A-C in Maths and English GCSEs or NVQ equivalent or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Desirable criteria
- Typing to OCR 2(or above) standard or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous demonstrable secretarial or support secretary experience
- Previous demonstrable experience in the use of word processors/data base/spreadsheet packages
Desirable criteria
- Previous demonstrable experience in a healthcare setting
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to work calmly and methodically when undertaking a varied workload in a busy working environment .
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
Desirable criteria
- Understanding the Trust’s waiting list policy within the work place
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
