Senior Respiratory Physiotherapist

UHP NHS Trust is looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join their respiratory rotation. This post would suit Band 5’s looking to specialise or current Band 6’s who would like to broaden their experience.
ÌýThis post is also suitable for a Band 5 transitioning to Band 6 on completion of training and competency to deliver respiratory services within UHP NHS Trust.Ìý
This nine monthly rotational post would rotate through Critical care / Surgery (general surgery, amputees), Cardiothoracics (including cardiac intensive care & wards) and Respiratory Medical (respiratory, oncology, haematology, diabetic medicine, respiratory out-patients) wards. The post also includes on-call duties and weekend working. Applicants will need previous demonstrable experience working as a physiotherapist, across a broad range of specialities, including critical care / acute medicine / neurology / outpatients / orthopaedics. The successful candidate will be joining already established teams in delivering seven day physiotherapy service to patients as part of the wider physiotherapy department.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. To provide a diagnosis, develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working autonomously.Ìý Senior support and supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences.Ìý Access to advice and support from specialist physiotherapists is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
Supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students and more junior staff; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

- Post graduate clinical demonstrable experience in Neurology, Acute Respiratory, Trauma and Orthopaedics / MSK
- Demonstrable experience of working in an acute hospital
- Demonstrable experience of teaching
- An awareness of current NHS and Health issues influencing respiratory care
- Proven evidence of contribution to clinical education / supervision of less experienced staff, students or assistants
- Demonstrable experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proven evidence of relevant CPD

- Previous demonstrable experience of working in Cardiothoracics/ ICU patients
- Demonstrable experience working with tracheostomy patients
- Clinical educator
- Audit demonstrable experience
- Demonstrable experience of working in a major trauma unit
- Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role
Qualifications

- Degree (BSc Hons Physiotherapy) or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Attendance at additional relevant professional courses
