An Opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Urology Cancer Nurse specialist,
This is a crucial role within the Urology MDT team supporting patients who have been diagnosed with a Urological cancer.
You will be the key worker for patients, supporting them through face-to-face and telephone appointments at all stages of their diagnosis and treatment.
To provide specialist nursing expertise, facilitating evidence-based, patient-centred care for a defined caseload of patients who are being investigated for or diagnosed with a urological malignancy, and acting as a keyworker for this group of patients.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure that patients and their families/carers are fully informed and supported throughout their treatment pathways, providing them with level 2 psychological support and referring on where appropriate.
To act as a resource and to provide specialist advice and education to patients, families and health care professionals on all aspects of urological malignancies
To participate in the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of policies and protocols, as directed by the Advanced Specialist Nurse and Lead Clinicians.
To provide nurse-led telephone clinics for the follow-up of patients diagnosed with a urological malignancy and to provide cover for nurse-led outpatient clinics when required.

- NMC registered Nurse
- Recognised teaching qualification
- • Academic Level 3 / Level H Specialist course
Desirable criteria
- 1st level degree or working towards.
- Physical Examination of the Adult Course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Developments in urology cancer initiatives and treatments at national and local levels
- Demonstrable understanding of urological cancer conditions
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience within relevant specialties

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
