Job overview

Bankfields Court, Adult Learning Disability Inpatient Service, is looking for a Band 5 Higher Assistant Behavioural Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy, acute inpatient service supporting the Behavioural Practitioner to make a real difference to our patients lives.

The successful individual must be enthusiastic, motivated and have a positive caring attitude. The individual will need to possess excellent communication skills and be able to flex their style when required.Ìý

The individual will work closely with the inpatient Multidisciplinary team and act as a positive role model for inpatient services. The role is a Monday to Friday 9-5 working pattern however there may be a need to adapt these times depending on patient need and requirements of the job.

Main duties of the job

To improve the lives of people with learning disabilities by minimising the impact of behaviour that challenges through the delivery of excellent services to promote independence and wellbeing.

To provide day to day support, coaching and mentorship for inpatient staff to implement a positive behavioural support framework.

To promote at all times a positive image of the Adult Learning Disabilities Service and the wider Trust.

To use appropriate communication methods to ensure effective therapeutic engagement with clients including the giving and receiving of sensitive information where understanding may be limited.

To maintain up to date knowledge and competency in the skills required to perform safely and effectively in the role, and be willing to complete further training relevant to role where necessary.
