Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious and hard-working Medical Education Business Lead to join our busy team based at Roseberry Park.

Medical Education is a dedicated team supporting all grades of medics within our trust from medical students to consultant psychiatrists.

Roseberry Park is situated in Middlesbrough and benefits from free on-site parking and is easily accessible by car and is on a main bus route from Middlesbrough town centre. There is also train access from the nearby James Cook University Hospital train station.

As a member of the Medical Education team, you will hybrid work from home and also in a dedicated office, alongside other members of the department who cover our medical staffing and revalidation teams.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, with some degree of flexibility.

Main duties of the job

We are first and foremost looking for individuals with significant experience of working within medical education in a complex role. Experience in managing performance and service delivery and also staff management and supervision is essential.

Training to postgraduate diploma level in addition to significant experience of producing work to a high standard against tight deadlines is a necessity.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

All staff have regular 1-1 meetings, quarterly supervision and an annual appraisal, which provides lots of opportunity for discussion around achievements, challenges and aspirations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree standard in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
Desirable criteria
  • PRINCE2 Project Management qualification or willingness to work towards this or similar level qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Training and experience to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent in business admin management, project management, financial management or supporting change management processes
  • Significant experience of working in a complex role which requires the collation and interpretation of data and the development of information systems
  • Significant experience of producing reports and presenting supporting data
  • Experience of influencing people who are not directly line managed to take action
  • Experience of working in a customer led service
  • Experience in managing performance and service delivery
  • Experience in staff management and supervision
  • Experience of producing work to a high standard and against tight deadlines
Desirable criteria
  • Significant experience of working within medical education

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the Trust’s quality strategy and the role information plays in supporting this
  • Knowledge of systems and process for handling and analysing complex data
  • Knowledge of business process redesign techniques
  • Knowledge of one or more computer system(s), hardware or software and procedures to develop reports, documents and spreadsheets
  • In-depth knowledge of the Trust’s managerial policies and procedures

  • Presentation Skills
  • The Trust’s Quality Improvement System (QIS)
