At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Job overview

Michelham WardÌýis an acute 21 bedded Gastroenterology ward. Patients treated on the ward have a variety of Gastro needs. Such as Crohn's disease, alcoholic hepatitis, Eating Disorders, Mal absorption Disorders, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Gastric cancers and acute Liver diseases. It is also the cohort ward for the Trust for C difficile patients and we have a dedicated area to looking after Bariatric patients.Ìý

This is up to 12 months fixed term/secondment to cover maternity leave a professional development opportunity. You will provide strong leadership, excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and support students and staff with clinical expertise. Experience in some of the acute fields of nursing covered by the ward would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be expected to function effectively under pressure without compromising basic standards of care and professionalism. In return we will offer you excellent managerial support and commitment to your personal professional development.

You will need at least two years’ experience in an acute setting at Band 5, ENB 998(Mentorship level 3) or the equivalent, opportunities for further education will be available.

  • Qualified RGN/RN/RSCN with active NMC Registration
  • Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development

  • Diploma Professional practice or working towards this Qualification
  • NVQ Assessor Award (D32/33/AI)

Experience
