We have a fantastic opportunity for you to assist our hospitals as a Mechanical Craftsperson, supporting our busy Estates team. You will be assisting with a wide range of planned preventative maintenance and reactive calls.

To work as a part of the wider Estates team to achieve site-wide engineering compliance, maintaining all building systems and achieving the wider strategic aims as set out by the site Head of Estates.Ìý

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain and repair a very wide range of Plumbing, Mechanical and Plant, Equipment and ServicesÌý

  • Deal with Major incidents such as large water leaks, ingress of rain water and blocked drainage in critical areas.Ìý

  • Unblock drains, roof gullies, guttering down pipes, lavatory pans, urinals, macerators, basin wastes and waste disposal machines etc,Ìý

  • Carry out Plumbing and Mechanical pipework installations, including baths, showers, basins etc.Ìý

  • Attend to and resolve a loss of heating / cooling, hot and cold water services to critical areas and Medical gases to critical areas,Ìý

  • Assist to motivate, train and develop the apprenticeship scheme.Ìý

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesÌý

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, new work and repair of Plumbing / Mechanical Plant & Equipment:Ìý

  • Plumbing, including showers, baths, basins, sinks, lavatory’s, macerators,ÌýÌýÌý waste disposals etc, etc,Ìý

  • ÌýMedium Temperature Hot Water PlantÌý

  • ÌýLow Temperature Hot Water PlantÌý

  • ÌýHeating & Ventilation SystemsÌý

  • ÌýAir-conditioning SystemsÌý

  • ÌýCalorifiers and Hot Water SystemsÌý

  • ÌýCarry out plumbing / fitting installations and alterationsÌý

  • ÌýMedical EquipmentÌý

  • ÌýMedical Gas plant and EquipmentÌý

Experience and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Completed and passed a formal apprenticeship City & Guilds or NVQ level 3
  • Previous experience as Maintenance Craftsman

  • Communicates technical issues to maintenance staff/ explain technical issues to other staff, patients
