This is an exciting time to join the Nuclear Medicine team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as we have received the financial backing to be able to expand the Therapy and Radiopharmacy teams. This role is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive person to lead the Therapy Team, which sits as part of the wider Nuclear Medicine department. Part of this interesting leadership role includes providing practical support to the Radiopharmacy dispensing rota, with both teams working in close collaboration.Ìý

Working hours Monday to Friday 0730-1530 hours, with occasional weekend on call.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

- To lead and be responsible for the safe running and management of Nuclear Medicine Therapy, taking into consideration the holistic needs of the patient and staffing skill mix.Ìý

- To deliver treatments as an operator under IR(ME)R 17.

- To be the appointed Radiation Protection Supervision under IRR17 for the department.

- To manage the storage and disposal of wasteÌý in accordance with EPR(16)

- To ensure that accurate capture of data from the treatment of patients both for Radiation Protection, Trending and Business Information.

- The post holder will have the responsibility to co-ordinate with Radiopharmacy manager to help support Radiopharmaceutical production.

- To provide training to staff both within or outside of the department.

- Perform Staff appraisals.Ìý

- The post holder will have influence over the non-pay budget and will be responsible for authorising purchasesÌý of radiopharmaceutical.

Our Radiopharmacy operates from 7:30 to 3:30 and works under Section 10 of Cheltenham General Pharmacy Licences. We have a strong working relationship with Pharmacy, Radiology and Oncology.

Key Results Area

1.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Lead a team inclusively and to encourage the contribution of all team members and support them in a complex environment.

2.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Provide specialist advice in all areas of Nuclear Medicine Therapy including facilities, equipment and Radiopharmaceuticals.ÌýÌý

3.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Prepare procedures/protocols/competencies documentation for different Nuclear Medicine treatments.ÌýÌý

4.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Work with Medical Physics to ensure there is maintenance of equipment and facilities.Ìý

5.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Supervision and participation in the treatment of Iodine-131, Radium-223 patients.

6.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Be responsible for Imaging of Therapy Patients

7.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Be responsible for providing GFR tests. This includes: coordination of the service for timely delivery with the correct skill mix; supervision and participation; checking and reporting results.

8.ÌýÌýÌýÌý Participate in the development of the service to introduce new treatments.ÌýÌý

9.ÌýÌýÌýÌý To attend internal and external meetings on behalf of the Trust and feedback actions to the Nuclear Medicine leadership team.Ìý

10.Ìý To participate in scientific problem solving and troubleshooting problems.ÌýÌý

11.Ìý To provide and sign off competency training for the team. Perform annual appraisals for the team.Ìý

12.Ìý To perform the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor, including writing Local Rules and Risk Assessment following the advice from the Trust Radiation Protection Adviser to comply with the Ionising Radiations Regulations (2017)Ìý

13.Ìý The post holder will be an operator as defined by the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2017).Ìý

14.Ìý Manage the ordering, storage and the waste disposal in accordance with site permit to comply with Environmental Permitting Regulation (2016), taking guidance from the Radiation Waste AdviserÌý

15.Ìý Provide training for stakeholder staff groups.

16.Ìý Participate in the Radiopharmacy Rota as part of Contingency Planning to maintain staff resilience across the department.
