The newly formed Urgent Treatment Centre at BNHH will register an average of 700 patients per week. The department is open 16 hours a day, from 0800-0000, 365 days per year. In accordance with DOH guidelines, all patients attending the department should be seen, treated and discharged or admitted within 4 hours of arrival.

The UTC is an extremely busy department. All staff working in this area will be exposed to blood and other bodily fluids. All staff will be frequently exposed to a highly challenging environment and will be expected to manage difficult situations and support each other, although reporting and support mechanisms are in place. Staff must be aware that they will be exposed to face-to-face aggression. Please refer to the job description for a full job summary.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for greeting all patients that attend the UTC ensuring they are registered in a prompt and professional manner. You will provide administrative support to the nursing and clinical staff on duty, ensuring that clinical coding is correct, arriving pre-booked appointments, photocopying and scanning all attendance information and will portray a professional image at all times.

Working for our organisation

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
