Job overview
The Haemophilia and Thrombosis Consultants work as a team to provide adult and paediatric care for patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the Southern Haemophilia Network. ÌýThis is done in specific clinics both at BNHH and across the network. The Southern Haemophilia Network (SHN) is a clinical network providing care for patients with haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders in Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Poole and Salisbury. ÌýThe specialist commissioners fund it as a network and the North Hampshire Haemophilia CCC is the hub. When the SHN was set up Memorandums of Understanding were created between the Trusts and now Service Level Agreements exist between Trusts at Basingstoke and Portsmouth, UHD Ìýand Salisbury.
The SHN team has a network director, deputy director, lead nurse, lead physiotherapist and operational manager and provides comprehensive care close to the patient’s home where possible. ÌýThe set up at each hospital is slightly different to account for the number of patients, the existing experience of those working at the hospital and support is provided from the hub at Basingstoke.Ìý
