Main duties of the job
The UHS Theatres Recovery Team are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity to aspiring and emerging leaders seeking growth and development in an acute setting. Our Neuro and Paediatric recovery services are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic leader who can lead a fast-paced recovery department as well work cohesively with team leaders across the theatre department.
The recovery service at UHS is comprised of 45 patient bays across 6 different recovery areas. The post holder will work as part of a team of 4/5 recovery team leaders who are responsible for the safe and effective delivery of care of patients in the post-operative setting.Ìý

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing leadership at ward/unit level and work with the Matron to enhance nursing practice and strategy.
- Undertake bleep holding responsibilities within designated area.
- Facilitate evidence-based care and act as a clinical expert at ward/unit level.
- Evaluate the relevance of changes in clinical practice and then support and facilitate implementation in the clinical area.
- Be a role model for all and contribute effectively to inter-professional team working.
- Advocate for patient groups, escalating safety concerns effectively and work with the multidisciplinary teams to mitigate any risk of harm.Ìý
- Ensure nursing teams are well led, ensuring high standards of pastoral care and support to staff as individuals. Ensuring senior teams are meeting trust objectives and people strategy.Ìý

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Registered ODP / nurse
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
- Experience at band 6 level
- Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice
- Provide evidence of Support colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Provide evidence of Supporting /managing and supervision a range of learnings in practice
- Aware of current NHS and professional issues
- Ability to network and build relationships within and across professions
- Experience of developing nursing and allied health profession / perioperative practice
- Appropriate Specialist qualification
- Evidence of Formal Management Training
Desirable criteria
- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
- Commenced MSc Academic Pathway
- Multi skilled in more than one area of speciality
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Sound leadership and effective role modelling capabilities
