We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Midwife to take a step up into this fantastic role of Fetal Wellbeing & Surveillance Midwife.
The post holder will be an expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of all areas of midwifery care for women throughout the childbirth continuum. They will work closely with other health professionals aligned to midwifery to ensure continuity of care. They will beÌý
responsible for supporting midwifery staff, obstetricians and students within the practice environment, to be competent in CTG monitoring and fetal surveillance.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
The Fetal Monitoring Lead will support staff working on the labour ward to provide high quality intrapartum risk assessments, fresh eyes and accurate CTG interpretation. The role should contribute to building and sustaining a safety culture on the labour ward with all staff committed to continuous improvement.Ìý
Provide a high standard of midwifery care at all times, within a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills to midwives.

Support and work closely within Maternity with the Lead Obstetrician for foetal wellbeing and the Inpatient Matron, Education Team and midwives in developing programmes of education for CTG interpretation to achieve better birth outcomes.
Ìý
Create good learning opportunities and environments in the clinical practice environment and maintain communication networks with the wider multidisciplinary Team and other foetal wellbeing midwives.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

- A comprehensive understanding of own development and training needs
- A clear understanding and application of the principals of professional accountability and confidentiality
- Proven Competency in: - Suturing/Cannulation/IV administration/Epidurals/Water Birth/Adult & Neonatal Resuscitation/operating theatre practiced Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of CTG interpretation
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Demonstrates diplomacy and tact Flexible and positive style and approach to work Knowledge and understanding of Statutory Supervision Knowledge of equal opportunity issues Demonstrates good presentation skills
EXPERIENCE

- Experience as a Band 6/7 a in High Risk labour ward or equivalent
- Evidence of clinical and professional expertise underpinned by knowledge acquired through CPD
- Experience in changing clinical practice
- Ability to apply audit and evidence based Midwifery/nursing practice
- Experience of clinical teaching and/or supporting students in practice
