The purpose of the role is to manage complex and highly complex Employee Relations casework from start to finish. The role will ensure the provision of an effective, comprehensive and professional employee relations advisory service for individual cases, to the highest standards of quality. The role holder will be the demonstrable example of high quality and timely advice through all mediums.
Main duties of the job
Carry a significant caseload and support managers and the team with all types of complex and highly complex ER casework, including but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, bullying and harassment, sickness absence, performance management and MHPS cases, including supporting managers in the preparation of cases at all stages of the procedure as needed.
In conjunction with the HR Business Partners, advise and support managers and ER colleagues in organisational change, ensuring the formal consultation with staff representatives and staff is carried out effectively and within agreed timescales.
Providing managers and the team with advice and guidance on all aspects of Employee Relations, policies, procedures and good practice.
Coaching and development of individual line managers across the organisation enabling them to increase their competency in dealing with Employee Relations issues, ensuring appropriate consistency across the Trust and protecting the Trust from the risk of litigation.
Regularly research best practice in relation to policy and procedure updates.
To attend formal proceedings in complex disciplinary, grievance, capability cases, in both the capacity of presenting and hearing of cases.
To develop and maintain excellent relationships with all trade unions and workplace representatives through both formal and informal networks.

- Full membership of CIPD (MCIPD) or eligible to apply for this status
- Educated to a post graduate level or equivalent or significant work-related experience

- Ability to establish credibility and good relationships with internal and external staff including managers, clinician and staff and manage those relationships with sensitivity and diplomacy
- Ability to express complex issues both verbally and in writing in an easily understood manner for a range of audiences with clear and confident presentation skills
- Advanced communication, facilitation, training and presentation skills
- High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
