As a result of the promotion of one of our pharmacists, an exciting opportunity exists to join a pro-active, well respected and forward-thinking Pharmacy Team delivering high quality patient care and service to our Cancer patients across the two sites.
The Oncology Pharmacy team provides services across both sites therefore the successful candidate will be working in the Oncology Pharmacy in Maidstone as well as in the Aseptic Unit ,  Tunbridge Wells Hospital  at Pembury . This post will allow you to develop your managerial skills and gain experience in Clinical Trials, commissioning, finance and e-prescribing as well as providing you the opportunity to provide Clinical Pharmacy Services to a wide array of cancer patients including solid tumour, haemato-oncology as well as being involved with the technical aspect of product approval and final release of cancer treatments.
After a structured induction programme, you will join the pharmacists on a rotational basis to deliver an integrated Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Service to our cancer patient.
Main duties of the job
You will ensure:
- All electronic prescriptions are prescribed, dispensed and administered to patients following departmental and trust guidelines on anticancer medication.
- Co-ordinate the daily provision of a safe, timely and effective electronic chemotherapy service to day cases and outpatients.
- Co-ordinate the daily provision of our newly formed Oral Chemotherapy Service
- Influencing and strengthening pharmacy links by working as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
- Supporting and working with the aseptic team to ensure safe and prompt preparation and release of aseptic products (cytotoxic and  monoclonals)
A postgraduate training in clinical pharmacy and/or suitable experience in hospital, in the field of Oncology/ Haematology are desirable, however we will consider forward thinking candidates with a desire to specialise in Cancer and Technical Services.
We also welcome candidates from community and other sectors who would like to join the hospital setting . We also welcome applications for pharmacists looking to work on a part-time basis.Â
At present there is no on-call commitments and /or working weekends.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Vocational Master degree in Pharmacy
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post-graduate diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Attendance at relevant study days/courses related to sterile production e.g. Leeds Aseptic Course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration hospital experience or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Experience of delivering a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to wards/department
Desirable criteria
- Experience of oncology pharmacy services
- Experience of clinical audit and/or practice research
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload
- Effective customer service skills – able to work to meet the needs of customers of the department.
- Good time management skills
Desirable criteria
- Good word processing and IT skills
