We are excited to launch the recruitment of this substantive, full time (10 PAs) Consultant Psychiatrist role in Older Adult Psychiatry.Ìý This combined post includes inpatient work with the Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) and Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) based at Charnley Fold in Bamber Bridge

The postholder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is payable.

Main duties of the job

The Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team sees patients with acute mental health needs at home or in care homes with the aim of preventing admission to hospital or care home and facilitating early discharge from the in-patient wards. It provides input to patients referred who have higher needs or risks which require more intensive input than can be provided by the CMHT. It is a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, a Psychologist, Doctors, Nurses and Support Workers.

Central OACMHT covers the localities of Preston, Chorley and South Ribble this team is based at Charnley Fold.Ìý The Consultants in the team provide clinical supervision in line with new ways of working. Most patients are referred via Initial Response Service (IRS) and allocated to the appropriate team member.

The Memory Assessment Service (MAS) is based at Charnley Fold in Bamber Bridge and you would provide 4 Programmed Activities of input to this service, joining the other part time Consultants.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist Register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 approved at the time of commencing employment and have, or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.Ìý Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the new Consultant contract according to previous experience.Ìý
